Feng Shui and Religions - Feng Shui is Religion Free

Many people said Feng Shui is a kind of superstition, one of the main reasons is that they don't understand or refuse to understand how Feng Shui works.  Another main reason is many Feng Shui practitioners and believers add their own religious theories and customs to Feng Shui, so that other religions treat Feng Shui as another religion - a superstition.

All ancient Feng Shui books did not talk about any religious practice in Feng Shui applications; they just studied the environment and recommended the choice of graves and homes.  Qi, Yin Yang, Five Elements and even Flying Stars are tangible and non-tangible substances that exist in the universe.  The Flying Stars actually are the nine stars in the Ursa Major constellation, the Big Dipper plus two other stars.

As I always emphasize, there may be many materials that are unknown to human beings.  Like a few hundreds years ago, people did not know anything about infrared and ultraviolet lights.  However, they did know that sunlight could kill germs, make inks fade and tan their skins.  They just could not explain it.

It is the same case in Feng Shui.  We know something is bad; some kinds of setting are bad for home owners without any scientific proof yet.  While we can explain some of the phenomena with the assistance of modern technology and knowledge; the majority of them are not explainable yet.

In Feng Shui, we will place some tools in particular spots in a property to solve the problems.  Items such as jade turtle, dry calabash and mirrors will be used.  Some people would have those items blessed by the priests of their own religion, believing that would increase the power of such tools.  This is how religions were involved in Feng Shui.  Basically, this is their own believe and has nothing to do with Feng Shui.

To draw an analogy: In ancient time, a man used tooth brush to clean his teeth and knew that it could prevent his teeth from having cavity.  Many people followed, but some of them had the brushes blessed by their priests; believing that would increase the power of the brushes.  Other people, without knowing the fact the brushing teeth could eliminate the bacteria that caused cavity, would think using brush to clean teeth was a superstition just because some of the brush users had their brushes blessed.

Since ancient Chinese were heavily affected by Taoism and Buddhism, some Feng Shui masters as well as the general public added their religion believes in Feng Shui when they practiced it.  For example, they would say the Feng Shui tools had to be blessed by a priest in order to be effective.  Years after years, people associate Feng Shui with Taoism and Buddhism without knowing the truth.  If we start telling people that the Feng Shui tools should be blessed by a Christian priest in order to be functional, after a couple of decades, people will think Feng Shui is a western believe or is associated with Christianity.

Please keep in mind that Feng Shui has nothing to do with religion.  More importantly, it is not a matter of believe; Feng Shui exists and will affect you whether you believe or not.

If interested, you can have a detailed explanation by consulting a genuine Feng Shui practitioner.  Good Luck!
